Can't speak for the C6 but my C5 is exactly the same and always has been, so was my C4. I think you need to have it electronically tuned to act different as i think its normal so to speak.
If i manually shift it i can shift from 1-2 right at redline and hit it hard if i do that from 2-3 it would bounce off the rev limiter for a second or so before shifting.
This is a long shot, but someone had posted that the auto trans in the C5 would "learn" your driving techniques (featherfoot or throttlemasher) over time and adjust the shift firmness accordingly. This is not to be confused with the normal tendency for more throttle to produce firmer shifts.
If this is true, perhaps the C6 has a similar program and is giving lazy shifts because you are gentle with the car when driving around town. If true, I wonder how long it would take the system to recognize that you were now in the "drive it like you stole it" mode?
I beat the living you know what out of my car at most opporitunities and the 2-3 shift is still lazy. 1-2 is as good as you can possible expect its perfect, 2-3 stinks.
There is a place called MTI racing here in atlanta that is going to fix all that for me shortly with a reprogram.
Leaving my a4 in drive I have been getting good shifts--1/2 and 2/3---but I was experimenting with shifting it myself and finding a nice rush of power and a real annoying hesitation to change gears after I moved the shifter a notch forward. This lag really became a drag and I keep it in drive.
