I just got mine from Corvettes of Houston. In the instructions it says to disconnect the negative on the battery prior to the install. I realize that with any electrical aftermarket part they tell you to do this. My question: is it really necessary to disconnect the negative to do this install? I would assume that with car off their is no power to that circuit? If you do need to disconnect the negative what about the computer or other electronic do they need to be reset?

I think some folks had to reset their indexing windows, but that was about all. Just raise the window and hold for extra 3 seconds. Release. Hold UP button again for 3 seconds, then release.

No need to disconnect. If you do, you will have to reset all of your other electronic stuff (Radio, etc.)

Good question for the place you bought the part from.

Personally, I recommend that you follow the directions.

Don't disconnect the battery. I did mine in five minutes without doing so.
They tell you this to protect themselves from any legal action in any event that something would happen. Kind of like what GM makes you do in hitting the I ACCEPT button every time you use the Nav system.

I just did it (literally, just got back from the test drive) and I disconnected the battery. I was surprised to find all my presets were saved (radio, climate, welcome message etc). Didn't even have to re-index the windows.
