I have been looking around for information on air intake for my C-6. Some think stock air intake is fine.
Halltech has a product called a "Stinger". I had a Halltech type of intake on my ZO6. It was installed with other mods, so I never got and an independant dyno on just the intake. Halltech now has a C-6 product for $295. Plus install.
Anybody have any information on this. They also had the Stinger availabe for 04 vettes, any results on newer models would be helpfull.
My c-6 is bone stock with 1300 miles.
I just ordered Kooks, Magnaflow and tuning will be done by Z industries.
A friend of mine ( Andreas G.) installed these mods (minus the intake ) and got great results. I have test driven his car, it sounds good and runs strong.
I will be posting dyno results soon.

i wouldn't bother doing any intake work until you can get into the computer. my first step is the exhaust, wait for the pcm updates then to the intake and pcm.
sdowney, did you do a dyno without the rammer first? If so, please do another with it, so we can see the results. The dyno has some variables but the track has much more.
I put K&N's PN 33-2136 in place of the paper filters. I cut the covers off flush with the K&N's, but kept the outter cover in place to keep water out of the filters. Which is does very well. My tunner agreed that that just might be the best thing to do since no one is making any real numbers. He also said that when LPE tested a motor on the engine dyno with just a straight pipe to the MAF, they gained only 10 flywheel HP. So GM didn't leave much on the table for air intakes.

homemade ram air...flip the filters ;)
here's a plan to built a very smooth bottom breathing ram air.
first remove the outer shroud (the one covering the filters)
remove the filters
remove the airboxes
remove the top radiator shroud
remove the lower radiator shroud
lay the shround on a flat surface
trace the outline of the oposite filter airbox so it would come through the shroud into the radiator side. you would move the right airbox to the left side and they will be mounted to the intake upside down. The filter element will be on the radiator side of the radiator shroud. this should place the filter at the top of the radiator air from the bottom of the car, the air from the air dam. the air dam should be tilted out just a tad as well.
put the radiator should back on and mount the filters.
reattach the top radiator shroud.
check to make sure there aren't any air leaks around the airboxes.
check all connections and mounts, screws, etc.
this will produce the most efficeint homemade ram air system possible.
Mid America has a Donaldson Blackwing kit with filter, bridge, coupler and hardware for $399. The Blackwing did a great job on my C5, but I haven't talked to anyone with it on their C6.

Wonder when that product will actually be available-MidAmerican has had it on their site for a few months, but continues to be 'temporarily unavailable'.

The callaway Honker gets it's air from under the shroud, the same as the BPP Vortex. The shroud needs to be cut with a template just like the Vortex. It uses an oiled cotton gauze filter.
I'll likely be getting one, also. Callaway says within 1-2 weeks they will be available.

what keeps water from being sucked up into the filters or are they so far up in the shroud that water entering from the bottom isn't a problem ?
