Default odd failure

car wouldn't start, clutch was in, etc,

dash lights and map lights would not turn off.

backup lights were on when tranny in reverse.

pressing the stop button, no effect. pressing the start, no effect. taking the fob away, doors did not lock, and lights stayed on. used second fob, no effect, same as first fob.

got a mesg that the system was going into battery saver mode. or something like that mesg. head lights would turn on, and looked bright, no sign of low voltage.

frustrated, called dealer, i asked the service guy if i should disconnect the battery and then try again. would that reset computer? he said don't do that, all kinds of problems might occur.

tow truck to service dept.

they called, said what was the problem?, started up, no problem, let us keep it over nite and check again. next day, no problem.

got car back, some of the options were changed, maybe service dept changed them investigating?

anyone had this happen? know what caused it?

thanks

Were any of the car doors open? I've had my car refuse to start with a door open. Soon as I closed the door, it would start right up. It doesn't always do this, but it does it often enough that I know leaving a door open can cause a won't start problem.

i had a similiar problem once, had both fobs in the car and the passenger door was not fully shut. actually put the fob in the glove box fob holder to get it started. haven't had any problems since, it's been two months since that one time problem.

Try this link for more details about the electrical issues some are dealing with; yours is not the only one and it seems to hit with 1000+- miles on the car.
