The newer model AVN5435 is going in my car this week along with some other goodies. I plan on taking pics of the install as it goes along and will post results.

For what it's worth, I've installed an AVN2454 in my Toyota truck (and my C6 has the factory nav). One thing that REALLY annoys me about the 2454 is that it doesn't have a volume control ****, only a pair of tiny buttons. There's been countless times I've needed to quickly adjust the volume, instead you have to search for the buttons. The volume adjust counts up and down and is rather slow to respond. There is a mute button to silence the radio quickly but it would still be faster/easier with a **** that you could find without looking for it.
On the up side, the Nav portion is somewhat better than the GM factory Nav unit. It's on-screen controls and layout are very similar with many of the same icons and menu trees. The 2454's map panning feature is much better, it's touch screen algorithm is more accurate and responsive. You're able to touch the screen and make very small (and accurate) steps to exactly pick the area you want. The GM unit is rather clumsy when it comes to panning. The 2454 does a better job of displaying the names of small streets and it's relatively easy to jump around the map to look ahead for the desired street name. Also, it can be wired to let you enter destinations while driving. The radio portion is a little short on presets (6 AM & 6 FM) but does have a nice equalizer and plenty of line inputs and outputs. Sound quality is very good. Overall I'd say it's a better Nav unit than the GM unit if you can live with the volume control business. The 2454 plays DVD's (a worthless option for me) but the way that it deals with the DVD menu and scene selection is poor. The DVD usually gets hung-up in the menu system until some magical (read random) sequence of buttons are pushed. You may also want to consider the Kenwood 7015, about the same total price but is not an "all-in-one" unit. I noticed the new Eclipse unit also uses a push button volume control. YMMV
im looking to install this...however im waiting until more knowledge about the c6 specs for the stereo and what not. I wouldnt be capable of a install like this. From what i hear the bose system is pretty complicated. I would def want someone of high experience to put it in...was considering these guys......www.audiointellect.com. I emailed them during the winter about the install and the eclipse head unit. There willing to do it...seems like a high class place. However a little pricey for the install...then again it is westchester!!
