Default Broken C6 Wheel Stud

I broke a rear wheel stud on my C6 ( don't ask, long story).
Is there any secret to getting the center hub off once the large nut is removed. It is STUCK tight and I don't want to force it much if there is some other attachement on the C6. I may jut need a little morwe persuassion.

I read a post on this forum, somewhere, that there are TWO retaining bolts holding the rotors on. Did you find them both?

Hope this helps.

I don't think the larger center nut needs to be removed. Just the two mall screws.

Appears that there are bolts on the back holding the hub on. If anyone can give me a step by step guide on how tro get the broken lug put of the hub , I would appreciate it. Hate to take it to the dealer if I don't have to.

Methinks it will be a challenge. It sounds like what you want to do is get the hub off the axle and I suspect that will be quite a challenge. Not familiar enough with the C6 to give you a clue but on any of my BMW's, you were talking a major undertaking.

Sorry.

Without seeing it, it's hard to give you any advice. I suspect those bolts you see are securing a sealed self-contained bearing unit. If you have removed the rotor, do you have access to the back side of the hub flange? Can you see the stud heads if you remove, say, the park brake shoes?

Removal of the hub to use a press is probably not required...the broken stud can probably be driven out of the hub with a large drift punch and a hammer, but you will need enough room on the backside to install the new (longer) stud. Align the stud splines to the grooves cut by the original stud by feel, then use an expendable nut same size as the lug nut, with some oversize nuts as spacers, to pull the stud into the hub.

You beat me to it - thats what I did when I installed longer studs on my C5. Then use a small piece of black duct tape to cover the hole. No one will ever know unless the NCRS inspects too closely 25 years from now!
