any suggestions on Front Brakes? I need a set and the dealer tells me they have to get them from the manufacturer overseas and it could take 3 weeks? I am upset. 8,145 miles not into the rotors yet, so basically I am grounded for 3 weeks . any suggestions on aftermarket brakes?
If you have the Z51 setup you might be out of luck...I do not know of any aftermarket rotors for the Z51. If you don't have Z51 then you have quite a few options... Baer, Powerslot etc... Example:Baer
But need to ask...what happend to your brakes??? You track your vette?
Michael
I'm probably nearing the same decision. I have 8K miles on my Z51 (two track events), and small cracks are appearing now from the drilled holes. I think they will be fine for one, or maybe two more track days. I thought these drilled rotors were a bad decision, and I'm disappointed that the Corvette engineers let it happen. From everyone I have contacted, Power Slot was the most encouraging, with an estimate of 60-90 days in having a Z51-size rotor, the others say 6-12 months. The simplest and cheapest solution is to convert to the C5 (or C6 non-Z51) brake caliper bracket, and then choose from the many 13" front rotors available. You can buy the caliper brakets, and a pair of Raybestos rotors, for less than the price of a single GM Z51 replacement rotor. And, if you buy the GM replacements, you will still be stuck with all left-side rotors (unless GM decides to quietly fix this in the replacement parts). Or, if you are interested in an upgrade, switch to the Stoptech, or other, aftermarket setup. But, by the time you get the wheels required for most of these, you have to estimate around $5K for that fix.

What prices are you seeing for the rotors from Chevy? Gene at Fred Beans quoted me a pretty decent price, waiting for confirmation that it was a Z51 part.
I have 1800 miles, 2 events at VIR and my front rotors are pretty much history, *most* of the holes have started cracking! I run PF01s..
I was told this weekend that raybestos will start offering the plain (not drilled/slotted) z51 replacements very soon, this is great news if it's true!
I replaced my Z51's with Hawk HPS'. If you're tracking, perhaps HP+ would be best for you? They dust more and can be alittle noisy. I believe Fichtner Chevy offers replacement rotors at a fair price--I think.
Where did you get your Hawks? I've been told they don't have pads for the Z51.
See Stop Tech for a new front kit. Brakes should last at least 25,000 even with hard driving. I have a VW R32 and am Very hard on the Brakes as well as a 330 BMW with a Supercharger on it. Both of these cars have stock brakes and come with amazing stock brakes. The BMW has 14K Miles on it and the PADS aren't even a quarter worn, the VW R32 has 35,000 KM on it and and the pads aren't near half yet.. On both of these cars I drive well over 120 and brake hard all the time in them. They make good brakes in Germany for German cars. Stop Tech should be able to help you though

I am a stoptech master distributor.. i carry everything stoptech and can get the best prices on BBK's and rotors and pads.
I'd get them replaced under warranty with that kind of mileage.
Either that, or driving school.
If he has done a few track days, that's really not bad rotor life, especially with drilled rotors. I have three track days on mine, with similar mileage, and I am looking for one more weekend from them. And then I am going to can the Z51 drilled rotors and switch to C5 caliper brackets (about $40) and 13" rotors. They have the same swept area as the 0.4" larger Z51 rotor (same caliper and pads), and there are many good 13" rotors available.
That's crazy! Rotors biting the dust after a couple days at the track?! And they're supposed to be "high performance"!?
No, they're supposed to be bling. Drilled rotors crack around the holes. Fact of life (physics, thermodynamics, and metallurgy). You won't see any experienced racers running drilled rotors.

Depends on the driver the track and the pad compound.. i know people that run their rotors so hard even the rotors that come with a APRacing tracksetup BBK crack them after a weekend.. Such is a fact of track racing.. Its an expensive hobby
I was wondering when folks (with some track time) would start reporting cracks in/around the drilled holes. I wonder what GM's response will be when owner's start wanting replacement rotor's for driving the car as "designed". I suspect by this fall we will know how well these rotor's hold up after folks have the entire spring/summer to drive their cars. Up till now I suspect many new C6's have been hibernating waiting for the nice weather to come out and play.
