Spoke to my brother, polymer chemist with the paint company that handles the vette plant. Ok to wax right away. Says the special clear coat used on the vette is easy to scratch for the first two months.

Great information. So, it must take several months to fully harden. Does your brother know if the paint used on the C6 is also (i) more prone to chipping the first few months and if it (ii) easier to chip than the paint used on steel bodied cars after fully curing?
Just had the rear deck lid on my C6 repainted due to some vandal taking a key accross the width of the lid. The paint job was baked on. When I asked how long before applying wax I was told to wait about 30 days. ***BY THE EXPERT***
He's right...body shops will bake paint. They just don't use the high temps used in the factory booths. Body shop jobs will need extra cure time...factory paint does not.
