my center console (plastic around shifter and stereo) creaks like its missing some rubber bushings. I got a complete lemon but no rattle in the shifter. Just about 20 other problems.
Yes i Do have the 6 Speed...As For what John Said...I Dont need to touch My Shifter to hear the Sound...As i am driving i hear it...If i Put My HAnd on the Shifter and put pressure on it in a any direction it goes away....I Guess i will have to bring it in to.
For the record, add me to the club. Push the lever to the right or left, the rattle goes away. Usually occurs at around 3500 RPM, only after the car has warmed up. Doesn't matter if the clutch is engaged or disengaged. Car has done it from the day I brought it home, has gotten worse with miles.
I've had the car in the shop twice, being told it's "normal." Nonetheless, I have a call into Customer Care, unlikely they'll do anything for me.
Actually, I thought it was coming from the dash at first. So did the dealer, and they actually had the dash apart once. Their second repair effort found the rattle coming from the shifter. That's when TAC (correct acronym?) told 'em not to continue their repair efforts.
I've also been shown the 97-04 TSB, and am not surprised to learn the problem is occurring on '05s.
