Exhaust sound: Headers vs Cat-back
If one were to install headers, but leave the stock cat back, would it still sound like aftermarket exhaust or do the mufflers prevent that? How much of a difference would high flow cats and/or an X pipe make in such a setup?
The reason I ask is that I am considering changing exhaust as a future mod. I love the stock sound and look, but want it to be somewhat louder. I don't want to do a full setup because of cost, but it seems that headers are the way to go for power gains.
