Default Dynatech Supermaxx LT Header Install

For those who have installed Supermaxx headers, I bought a set because of the apparent good value, but also because I was told they were a relatively easy install, and many people had self-installed them.

However, when I read the instructions, they say the driver side headers need to be installed from the bottom, and 3' of clearnance is needed. Does everyone who is installing these have a lift available, or is there some other way I cannot think of to get my car 3' off the ground. Sorry it this is a dumb question, but it does not sound like an easy self-install unless you have access to a lift. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

These headers take about 6-8 hours of work to install. Labor rates in the area range from $75-85 an hour. I'm looking to save an estimated $700 from a shop, but don't have the means at the moment to do it myself. If you know someone who will install these for $100--or even $300--let me know!

If your military many of the bases have a car hobby shop wherein you can rent a lift.

Quantico or Ft. Belvoir must have the auto shops .. maybe even Meade or Aberdeen.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will see if there at auto shops with MWR at the local bases. If not, or not convenient for a header install, I'd had advice for installing from the top, which will eliminate the issue. I appreciate the help.

Doc:

Taber Corvette Parts in Chandler, IN installed my SuperMaxx header system for $350. Including correcting a snafu in the instructions this part of the work couldn't have taken 4 hours. The work was excellent. Sam Taber is an expert at this. If you can get to Chandler, Sam would do a good job for you.

The headers are changed from the bottom no matter what brand if they are long tube headers.

They are so much easier to change than a C5.

It took a shop 1 hour to change my headers, place x-pipe, and straighten out my corsas;

Cost $200.

Default size matters

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't these headers are listed with 1 7/8 primaries ?
If so, then you're going to be very dissapointed with your HP & more importantly your loss of low-mid range torque. 1 7/8 primaries work on large displacement motors (7 plus liters) or at the very least motors with long duration, high lift cams, head work etc. with HP ranges in the 600's RWHP, That opperate in the 6000-7500 RPM ranges ie RACE CARS! Even most of the large displacement street motors use 1 3/4 primaries. It gives you the best in HP and TQ, and Torque is what wins on the street and track. Also, if your going to put these headers on a bone stock motor; well, It's like trying to kill a fly with a cannon, so-to-speak. I've seen the differences on the engine dyno at superior auto in anaheim Ca. They are significent. And, if I'm wrong and you are using 1 3/4 primaries, then; forget what you just read.

...they are 1 3/4 tube design according to their homepage http://headersystems.com/images/f-body_top.jpg

Installation at Dynatech Dallas for the C6 is only 250 USD, so for other garages over 500 USD for installation is way to much.

They are 1 3/4 for the Fbody but 1 7/8 for the C6, at least according to the image below: http://www.tbyrnemotorsports.com/C6/...axxheaders.jpg

It got much louder at wide open throttle but there was very little change at cruise. I also get a great burble/popping upon deceleration. Please note that I had Corsa touring mufflers installed at the same time so I don't know what the headers would sound like with the stock mufflers.

Please accept my apologies for missing this until now, Hampi. They perform quite well. After the installation I noticed an increase in throttle response that begins just off idle and goes to above 6000 RPM. I experienced no loss of bottom-end torque, though the new exhaust magnified the car's tendency to really take off starting around 3000 RPM. The sound in the upper third of the operating range is a breathtaking wail that sounds similar to a race car.

Andreas G's post above is accurate information. I spoke to the people at Kooks and they said the same thing. 1 7/8 are not for street but used for big cams, big block motors and basically drag strip cars. All the tuners suggested 1 3/4 for the LS2 for the street. The 1 7/8 has short changed you on rwhp and rwtq.Useing Kooks with Magnaflows my results below
RunFile_002.drf Max Power= 342.63 Max Torque= 346.52
RunFile_005.drf Max Power= 373.33 Max Torque= 369.94
A header change to the proper size will net you more power.

Just my 2 cents
