Okay, I'm currently running the Corsa Sports, but am considering adding some headers. Looking for some suggestions, specific brand, X-pipe, etc. Let me hear your thoughts! Thanks

Yep, you've got the noise, now you might as well have the horsepower. I'm going to use TPIS (www.tpis.com) . I'm sure others are good too, I've just had personal recommendations from folks I know who have used TPIS. You can probably expect a 20-25 rwhp gain. You will hear stories of more; most not true.

Thanks...I'll check em out. I've also looked at some Kooks, just won't be satisfied until I put some headers on it.

Look at the QTP (www.quicktimeperformance.com) long tubes (not sure if the C6 versions are out yet) as well Kooks.

Give Cartek (www.cartek.net) a call, they can help you for sure.

LG long tube headers and X-pipe should get your attention.

Default Kooks second to none

I have kooks and magnaflows, 160 stat my own air box mod and tunning. Presently I'm making 386RWHP/377RWTQ, most all of it from the kooks. The system includes headers, high flow 3 inch cats and x-pipe. It's 3 inches all the way to the pipes starting over the axle. Also included is the 4 02 extenders, because everything has been moved down stream. There quality is excellent. They just fit!

Andy, My inclination is to do 3" like you. But some tuners have stated that the2 3/4" are better for low end torque. True or not? Big difference or small? Your thoughts please

Default Where is torque generated?

Good question? No one answer, depends who you are talking to. With all of my experience with these motors and others: speaking of when the exhaust gases leave the port, It goes something like this. Exhaust gas velociety is the key to torque. So, primary tube size regulates velociety, tube length, equal or unequal. Collector size and a dead space in the collector. Now 1 3/4 is great primary dia., length 25-32 inches is best for torque, 3 inch collector dia., size of most header builders ,and a little known fact of an area where the four primary pipes come together called dead space. A long time ago a man by the name of Belanger put a 6-8 inch tappered spike in the center of the collector effectly eliminating the dead space created by the union of the four primaries. Before that the gases would slow down entering the collector, lowering one's torque. Now with that spike (called a pickle fork) in place the velocieties in the collector don't drop much maintaining your torque curve.
With all these players in place it would seen that it's the type of header you have that would regulate torque curves. This is excluding cam, duration, lift,Lsa,port size and shape of combustion chamber design, etc.
Once you've exited the collector and passed the x-pipe which also helps
if it's close to the cats, which they are, by equalizing the exhaust pluses and aiding in scavenging of the cylinders. This by the way means, the more completely you can empty the cylinders of exhaust gases and the velociety at which they leave helps in the filling and swirling of the incomming charge of fuel and air.ie more power. AND WE ALL NEED MORE POWER!

Now as for after the x-pipe, kooks believes 3 inches all the way to where the pipes go over the axle is best if you're going the be making over 400RWHP. Point is if your not it isn't going to hurt your torque, so it's a win win situation. 2 3/4 or 2 1/2 would also work. Here you have to consider Back-pressure and cooling gases which will be moving slower. On personal note, my kooks sytem is 3 inch all the way to the axle. Anyway hope this info helps more that confuses you. It sometimes confuses me, because there are so many variables to consider. Once you get the right combo, you're set.
