Default Weight Difference: Chrome vs. Non Chrome

Does anyone actually know the weight difference between a "polished" and "chromed" C6 wheel??

A couple days ago, in another thread, about which to choose, someone said that the chromed wheel would weigh more. Ever since I read that I've been thinking about what the differnce might be.

I'm sure we're not talking about a great deal of weight, maybe 1 pound per wheel, but does anyone know??

The chrome plating, itself has minimal weight.

Maybe a pound. Also, Chrome plating a stock wheel does reduce the strength of the wheel by approximately 14% (There are metallurgical reasons for that apparently)

I would be surprised if the weight difference is more than a couple of onces per wheel (assume the wheel before chroming is from the same metalurgy and machining as the 'other' wheels its being compared to).

Somebody actually weighed the two a few months ago, and it was just a few ounces at most.

My chrome wheels go on tomorrow. I am doing it because I like the way it makes the car look. I doubt a pound or two will make much difference in the performance.

Typically 4 ounces per square foot of plated surface.

yeah.....that was me.......stock C6 painted wheel, vs. stock chromed wheel.......NO DIFFERENCE....!!!!!

now, granted, i was using bathroom type scales, so you CSI nitpicking types have room to complain, but, believe me, short of state certified scales, THERE'S NO DIFFERENCE.....

Default Wheel Weight

Does anyone have the "offical" (non-bath scale) weight of the front and rear wheels? Thanks.

My chrome wheels were installed this morning and they look great ( on silver ) At this level of performance it makes no difference. WCC said they weigh about the same.
