Default Torque Specs

Given that the Service Manual is not available yet, does anyone have access to the torque specs for the car?

I'm specifically looking for specs related to lowering the car, so:

1. The lower shock bolt at the A-arm for front and rear
2. The lower A-arm nut where it connects to spindle.

I have the sway bar specs, but if anyone can help here, much appreciated. Another member put 163 ft. lbs. out there for the shock not, but if that's incorrect, please let us know.

Thank you very much! That big 1" or so bolt on the lower shock mount is only at 21 lbs...wow.

Do you have access to the numbers other than through the service manual, or were you lucky enough to get one?

Those specs posted by OttoNP are the same as in this attached link for the C5 FRONT shock bolts.

C5 Torque Specs

The lower bolts for the REAR of the C5 call for 162 lbs-ft. Whether this is anything like the C6 I don't know. Butt...I too feel that 21 is kinda low for that big bolt!!!

I'm looking at the 2005 service manual and those numbers were for the front and I matched their description exactly (Though the second one should read upper). If it is a 1" nut it probably isn't these, especially since the reference says nuts. Below are all that I could find for rear and front. I haven't look at the car, but the specs make me think there is a difference front/rear and that only the rear has that big nut.

Rear
shock absorber lower mounting nut 107 ft-lbs
shock absorber upper mounting bolts 22 ft-lbs
upper control arm mounting bolt 81 ft-lbs
lower control arm cam bolt nut-front 107 ft-lbs
lower control arm cam bolt nut-rear 70 ft-lbs
lower control arm ball joint stud nut 22ft-lb then 180 degrees

Front
Shock absorber lower mounting nuts 21 ft-lb
Shock absorber upper mounting nuts 19 ft-lb
Lower control arm cam bolts nuts 125 ft-lb
Lower Control Arm Ball Joint Stud Nut 20 ft-lb then 180 degrees
Upper Control Arm Ball Joint StudNut 22 ft-lb then 225 degrees

Also note the C5 reads bolt while the C6 reads nut, which makes me think there was a change. With anything like this I always check that the spec I have seems to match what I saw when I took it apart.

Thanks very much. I think this is what BigRon is looking for. That rear lower shock mount torque looks a lot more like what that big bolt/nut should be torqued to.

When I took mine apart to cut the height adjusting bolt bushing, I guessed and torqued to 110 ft-lbs. It looks like I was close enough so I'll leave it alone!
