Default Ballisitc resistant tint

On another post I promised to provide this link. I have used the product on vehicles and houses to make the glass ballistic resistant. It works very well and used to be about the same price for regular tint. The company is great to deal with.

i live right next to concord, how exactly does this tint work? is it thick? i dont understand how it decreases the noise in your car and all that stuff. The site is pretty vague about the product. How affordable?

I'm on the other side in Brentwood. It is a laminate / epoxy that if I recall correctly, is 9mm thick. If you purchase a clear color, it really is clear and I have used this for residential and commercial applications.

I've had several vehicles coated including trucks, six figure vehicles and didn't have a problem. Also, if you're wondering, the thickness of the laminate correlates to the level of protection. I believe the 9mm was for handguns.

9 mm thick? maybe they claimed it would stop a 9 mm bullet? You mean 9 mils thick which is .009 inches. 9 mm is about .35 inches. It would probably be hard to roll down the windows...sorry, I couldn't resist

Their FAQ very clearly states that it is not bulletproof. It actually would need to be 9mm or more thick to achieve that level of ballistic protection (not to mention it'd need to be made of something stronger than polyester). The "bulletproof" glazing used on embassy cars and the like is over 1/2 inch thick, and even it won't stop a rifle round, just pistol and SMG rounds.

Their features page shows it to be 8 alternating layers of polyester film and adhesive. They quote the adhesive thickness as 25u, which could mean micrometers or microinches, but in either case is extremely thin and can be ignored for the purpose of estimating the total film thickness. They don't say how thick the film layers are, but if the illustration is to scale, I'm guessing 1 or 2 mils per layer, yielding a total thickness in the range of 4 to 8 mils.

Yeah, I didn't beleive it would stop a bullet anyway. I was just poking a little fun.

Yup, not much that will stop a rifle bullet 'cept steel plate. .

You guys are correct, no one will say somethig is "bullet proof" they always say resistant. FYI, I have tested the product at a gun range and it stopped 9mm and 45ACP with no problem. I didn't have a .44 or .357 with me to test.
