I own a manual transmission C6 with less than 1,500 miles. As I have become more accustomed to driving and listening, I have noticed a high pitch whine that usually begins between 2,000 and 2,500 rpms and stops at around 3,000 to 3,300 rpms. It occurs in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears for sure and may in the others as well - I just have not had an opportunity to check it out in those yet. My car is a vert, so I initially thought it was wind noise but have also heard it when the top is down. The sound is not loud but is noticable to me.
Has anyone else noticed this? Does anyone know what it could be?
Oh boy, here we go, I have the same problem and this thread covers the issue. Called my dealer and they said they never hard about it and need to bring it in. Since I got my BB route 66 don't hear it as much.

I am 100% sure this is the same problem as reported in the CTS TSB
Thanks...its sounds like you nailed the problem and that there is no current "fix". In the meantime, I assume that this is just a minor annoyance and is not the precursor to a more serious mechanical problem!!

Yes, it's just suppose to be the harmonics of the coolant flowing through the heater core, if you notice it does not start until the engine reaches temp. I assume the thermostat or some other temp control limits the flow through the heater core and that is why it's not heard until hot.

Exactly, it is not audible until the engine warms up. I appreciate the reply and peace-of-mind that it brings. I can handle the noise now because everything else about the car is so great. Thanks again.
