Default My $2,000 nail

Ever since I purchased my C6 I have been thinking about all of the possible mods I would like to do. I havent done yet anything as of yesterday, just because of kids, job, wife, new house, bla, bla. I couldnt find the time, anyway, as I was leaving my house yesterday (we live in a new neighborhood) I picked up a giant bolt / nail in the L rear tire. The car informed me of the immediate drop in pressure. I tried to call three tire dealers in my area Cumming, GA absolutely nobody had tires for the Z51. In fact I called a shop that I thought was a Goodyear dealer when I asked for the supercar tires, the gentleman on the other end of the phone paused and said, sir I can gaurantee that we do not have that kind of tire. It was kind of funny we were both laughing at his response. I took the car (60-65 mph) about 20 miles back to Tom Jumper which is where I had order/purchased my car. While I was there I started to talk to one of the service guys about the new exhaust GM has available, anyway I kind of just talked myself into having it put on the car. I cant wait to get it back, I think I can get away with just the rear tires being replaced , (I left it up to the mechanic on the fronts) the car has been on two differant race tracks for a total of three days. So maybe two maybe four tires + one exhaust sys and four round tips oh yea and an oil change.

There is no way I'm getting out of this for less then $2,000 I'm thinking probably $2,500 -$3,000. I hope the mechanic keeps the nail, I may have to make it into some type of keychain / brootch for my wife. I should have the car back this Friday. Once I have the car I will post a sound file, I know it is supposed to be 2-3 db lower then Borla touring, but I'll post anyway (with your help).

Similar situation for me - Z51 LR too. Sidewall cut not repairable. Had to drive back home 30 miles but I didn't go over the recommended 55mph. Chevy dealer couldn't help (this was a Saturday) and so local GY dealer ordered new tire since he didn't have any either. Took 5 days to get here but replaced at no cost under GY warranty. Curious - why do you think they're going to replace any tires other than the one with the bolt in it?

Check your tire warranty. If you have enough tread left on it Goodyear will pay for the damaged one + labor.

I just found a screw in the Right Rear tire and it's leaking. Can the Run flats be repaired?

Yes there is an EMT repair kit available that is both a plug and a patch. It is about 30-35 installed and GY says the speed ratingt is unaffected. I have numerous runs high in speed on a repaired emt that I'm asshamed to tell of but if your are still in doubt, I will buy the tire from you.

I can relate....one Saturday, bored to death, I was playing around on the computer checking out my new high-speed internet. Having been the owner of several early model corvettes, I decided to do a search on Hemings and ended up strumbling onto a website called Corvette Forum... Long story short, that turned into one expensive web-surfing experience--from high-speed internet to high-speed car!

Caught a screw in right rear at the corner, couldn't be fixed (C-6 Z51). Bought a new one. With install, 473.00. Contacted GoodYear a week ago; they had me fax them the tire/repair invoice and documentation of date of purchase. Check came from Goodyear yesterday. Check your tire warranty that came in the leather pouch. All necessary info is there.
