Today when I started my 99 C5 the low voltage light came on and then went off as the voltage increased on the guage. Then the engine stalled as I was driving down the street. It started right up again. However, I came out of a parking lot and when i started it the engine guages all didn't show any life at all. The car stalled again and when I restared everyhting was normal./ However, it stalled again on the way home. I finally got it in the garage and now the check engine light comes on and, if the car starts at all it runs very rough. As soon as the engine dies I cannot get it to restart at all for several minutes and then it ony runs a few seconds. Any advice? Looks like I'm going to have to have it towed to the dealer with a real expensive repair.

Mark - First this is the C6 forum not the C5. That said, go get a fresh battery and install it in your car before you spend a bunch of money on a tow. My first guess is that your battery is shot and a fresh battery will fix it up. Before you take off on a long drive, turn on every electrical thing you have and watch the guage. If it drops down, then your alternator is probably bad and that is why your battery went. You can take it in for replacement or if you want to be 'one with your car', pull the alternator. The local parts store should be able to test it and see if you need a replacement. You can do it. Bill
If you have OnStar, have them run a check. They can "ping" your car and tell you the code and what it means. It's one of the main reasons I opted for the OnStar option. Good luck

OK, so you they give you a code. Then what do you do with the code, or how does that help?
