In the future, a rough way to estimate numbers like
these (if you're unable to calculate them) is to take
your C6 to 50, 60, 70 mph and measure the rpm.

Then, since 4.10s are almost exactly 20% more gear
than 3.42, you can expect 20% more rpm in any
given gear. So, for example, if you're turning 1500
rpm in 6th at 50 mph, you'd now be turning 1800 rpm.

4.10s will get you the following speeds:

1st 41mph @ 6500 rpm
2nd 59mph @ 6500 rpm
3rd 85 mph @ 6500 rpm
4th 123 mph @ 6500 rpm

This means 2 shifts to hit 60 mph.

Pat I'm in the middle of a dupute. I paid to install a 4.10 gear and the work was not done. The service center insists they did the job. I drove other stock c6's and we have the same r.p.m's. I'm trying to convince these guys to give me my money back. Can you please get the exact rpm's at 50 60 70 mph in 6th.
Thanks again

I think this still applies (from the old school) - jack the rear wheels off the ground, put the trans in neutral, rotate your your rear tire 1 complete rotation. The drive shaft should make 4.1 rotations if you have 4:10's, or 3.4 rotations if you still have the 3:42's.

Anyone correct me if I'm off on this.

Well, I just got home from work. On the way home I
measured 50, 60, and 70mph on my Z51 6spd.

Stock, in 6th gear:
50mph - 1250 rpm
60mph - 1500 rpm
70mph - 1750 rpm

Increasing by 20% for a 4.1 rear gear would yield:
50mph - 1500 rpm
60mph - 1800 rpm
70mph - 2100 rpm

I'm going to correct you on this. The transmission and the rear end are attached (bolted) to each other the driveshaft is contained in the driveshaft tube. In order to count how many times the driveshaft turns you would have to take off the driveshaft tube, and the spin the tire in 4th gear because this gear is 1 to 1 ratio. If you try to turn the wheel in 4th the clutch pack will slip. The only way is to take out the spark plugs and turn it by the crankshaft bolt. In order to get a wrench around the crankshaft bolt you must remove the power steering rack. This is why I would rather get a reading from somebody with a 4.10 gear installed.

I thougt i read somewhere a while back that in 4th for the mn6 or in 3rd in an auto look @rpms while doing 70mph. If turning 3100 you have 3:15 if turnong 3420 you 342 and if turning 3900 you have 390's etc...

Could be wrong but i though i read this was a rough indicator of your gearing for the vette.
