Default High Oil Pressure ... plz advise!

I started up the car this morning (C6 Z51, 2 months old) and the oil pressure gauge and DIC are both pegged at the 80 psi max.... I'm thinking maybe the sending unit has failed??? Everything else seems fine.... should I be overly concerned driving it until I can get it into the dealer?

Very common problem with the C5. Best bet the sending unit needs a replacement.

Could this be an sensor grounding issue or a short in the sensor?
Where are the sensor's located on the LS2? I have an LS2 in my C5 and experiencing the same problem. Even if the engine is off, I still get the 80 PSI on the analog pressure gauge.

I am sure driving it to the dealer is not a problem. I can't imagine a problem that would cause 80 PSI of oil pressure. It sound's like a sensor.

On some engines, a spun bearing will produce high oil pressure. Driving it runs the risk of further damage. But since a spun bearing means a new engine anyway, not a big issue.

More likely it's the O.P. transmitter.
