Will a cooler running bulb not be as bright as a hotter bulb or of higher wattage?
Good Question. My gut feeling is that there is a spec that they must meet, and they are probably just as bright. Maybe slight difference in wattage. GM is really big on DRL's; models that use headlights for DRL's have few problems. But some of the models that use the turn signals for DRL's really scorch their sockets. I think it depends on how big the parking lamp is. Cars with bigger parking lamps have a lot of air space inside. But the small parking lamps on the C6 must get really hot inside. Just a theory. Also, on other cars, adding di-electric grease in the socket has been shown to disperse the heat away from hot spots.
Seems like everything on our cars gets hot the console area and the hatch

Corvettes don't have the luxury of space perhaps that is still what makes it difficult to fix/maintain the Corvette.
The DRL's do make your presence more noticeable so It is a good safety feature since we sit lower than other vehicles . They have been running DRL's in Canada for awhile on all their cars.

Too bad no "statistically significant" data bears this out, including a study by the NHTSA. So far anyway, it appears all they are doing is contributing to global warming.
Took my car to the dealer yesterday for DRL. They followed the procedure from PIC 3540A and got mine working again for now. The Service Manager told me that he had ordered another new bulb that GM had told them to do for the C6. Ofcourse it is on back order and I will have to wait for it now along with 3 other C6s at this dealer.

Same thing here they had to special order the bulb so I maybe back

Because they only replaced my bulb it that was two trips to the dealership one to diagnose it was burned out bulb and the other to install the bulb after waiting for a few weeks for the special order..
But since that was sometime in February I maybe back if this happens again and if it turns out that I have the above problem.
At least I know I can go down to BMW to get jacking pucks for the C-6 and know that they keep that in stock and doesn't have to be special ordered. I thought it was easier to get parts for American cars and more difficult to get parts for Foreign cars
