Bose In-Dash Changer - (again) - Magic Reset?
In dash CD changer (1SB) - gets CD MECH ERROR on screen and won't eject, change disc, or anything. Happened once before at 1 week new - sat in the waiting room at the local radio shop for 1.5 Hrs., only to have the tech ask me what was wrong - as he was able to eject and reload all the discs, and play them (pi$$ed me off, obviously I had tried that myself, rather than waste a morning).
Has anyone figured out if there's a RESET (keystroke sequence, or whatever) for these units? Or should I try digging out the fuse box, and pulling the radio fuse? I hate to waste another Monday on this.
I'm about STONE TIRED of the Bose crapola. I hate to drop upwards of $2-3K on a replacement audio system, but just to have something RELIABLE, it might be worth it...

CD players are simpler, but they have problems too. In the case of your Delco (it ain't Bose, that's just the amp and speakers) head unit, there is a flat tension spring in there that sometimes gets out of alignment and fouls up the works, causing a jam. Sometimes just cycling power will cause it to clear as the mechanism tries to reset, sometimes it won't. The purpose of the spring is to prevent jams when the car hits a sharp bump. It does that. But sometimes it causes jams too.
The automobile is a tough environment for things with a lot of monkey motion like a CD changer. Bits get bumped out of place and cause jams. Dirt gets in and gums up the works. Etc. This particular HU design does seem to have more than its share of problems, but even very high end stuff can jam too.
I'm a techie myself, so I understand how Murphy's Law applies very well to in-car CD changers - but to not have a back-door reset, or something of that nature?
At least it can play MP3 discs - I'm thankful for that. The last time it happened was NPF - I was so pi$$ed off - "whaddya mean nothings wrong".
I'll call in the AM & see if I can get any hints, before spending another morning in the radio shop. At what I bill an hour, it's almost worth paying someone else to just do it for me (versus a free/warranty fix).

Rick

But Sony isn't any better.
