Default Vortex 1/4 mile results stock vs Vortex

I took a trip to Moroso in Jupiter Florida for a conclusive test night. Stock vs Vortex Intake.

All these runs took place on the same night.

Stock intake

I did 5 runs. Each had from 1.98 to 1.94 60 foot time. All runs were in the 13.1 to 13.1 range at 107-108.

Installed the Vortex and ran 4 runs. Same 60 foot times. One was even over 2.0. All runs were in the 12.55 to 12.63 range from 110 to 111mph.

Finally!!!!

My mods are Vortex intake and Corsa Sport. I did not remove the MAF screen. It is still in place.

The Vortex works and is money well spent.

I ran the tests. I rest my case.

I took my time and $$ to bring these results to you as requested.

What say ye? I know you will come up with some crazy reason why you think IT STILL doesn’t work. I would LOVE to see you fly down to sunny south Florida and see the test yourself. That would shut you up.

Damn....I was not wanting to cut my shroud even though you can get a ton of cool air by cutting it....I may have to reconsider now.

Thanks for the update

me thinks it's the box. the larger the box the more that can be captured and thus create a low pressure area for the intake to draw from.

Your post is confusing. You said you did five runs and all were in the 13.1 and 108 mph range and then you installed the Vortex and the runs were 12.55 and around 111 mph.

Then you say the Vortex was at the beginning of the night when it was hot and the stock runs were toward the end of the night.

Which way was it? Vortex first or stock first? With all the modifications that the Vortex requires to install, how would you able to go back to stock?

Explain, please.

Im certainly not going to call you a liar,it just seems like .5 in the quarter from just the vortex seems impossible.Basically its adding 50hp in performance to shave off half a second.I would like to take a ride with you sometime or meet you at moroso. If I could get that type of gain I would surely get one installed.BPP is very close by to me.

I'm sorry, but it's hard to believe that you can take a half sec. off 1/4 mile times with just an intake. I might be wrong. If I am, I'll be looking into getting one myself.

Good job there James. I had the Vortex unit in my C5 and it was a real performer at the strip. Not to hijack your thread but, on the C5 I am now running the Vararam and the large results you picked up from stock, I realized over the Vortex. Hard to believe I know but just like you I have the results. Keep up the good work and enjoy the mods. I'll see you at the track.

You just can't please everyone. What more do you want from me?!!!!

I put on the stock intake and I ran 13. I put on the vortex in the same night and ran 12.5's with the same 60 foot times.

Most active Corvette members in the South Florida area have seen my car run at the track. Both before and after the Vortex. I now have over 40 runs with this car.

Buy a ticket to Florida and bring your snide remarks with you. We will run the tests again. HELL, YOU can do the work and run the car if that will shut you crazy bastiges up!!

Come one come all. I can’t stand the people who LOVE to talk but NEVER try. Your comments are worthless to me. I will ONLY listen to people that have actually bought and tested the products from now one. Talk to the elbow because the hand is on vacation!

I am going this Friday if there is no rain.

My car is FAST and I owe it to the Vortex.

Once again. If anyone wants to get their butt beat by my Auto C6 come to Moroso one night.

That is all.

I was trying to say the Vortex runs were when it was still light out and the air temperature was about 5 degrees hotter than later in the night when I did the stock runs.

I made sure that my coolant temp was below 180 for at least two runs on each setup.

FLC6, I had the Vortex installed last Friday. I am impressed as well. Once I'm up to speed I can't certainly feel the additional pull.

Question, my engine light came on yesterday. The codes show its running lean. I'm sure its due to the addition air flow. Did your's do this? I thought the computer was supposed to learn the change.

I went by LG and they cleared out the code, but it came back this morning. They said a LS2 edit will cure it, but I'm waiting until the headers come in to do the LS2 edit then.

Do you have the new Vortex?

The beather hose goes after the MAF in the new setup. No check engine light.

James lots of things said about the intakes on these cars. Many don't understand the performance advantage until they use the product. Don't get upset, as these cars are modded more and more owners will see the light. Wanna Race?

I believe so. I had LG Motorsports install it. I imagine they set it up correctly, but I'll check. Thanks.

Did you remove it to test again? I recall your post about a month ago when you first installed this and had positive gains. Are you referring to that experience or did you do additional testing this week? I was just curious if I was have deja vu all over again.

People are skepitcal about .5 gains from just a intake because thats just simply a huge gain for that type of part. Thats the type of gains people get from aggressive cams or heads,so we are just shocked to see that an intake could do that.If those gains hold up on other cars then breathless better up the production numbers on there vortex because everyone will buy one.I would like to maybe get one but I'm worried about all the rain down here in south florida and I do more driving than the average vette owner.
