I just had TPIS long-tube headers installed. I was a bit concerned that the interior heat, around the driveshaft tunnel and console, would be worse. But, it seems to be running cooler inside. Is this typical of others' experience?
Cant help with your question but I would like to ask a couple. What are your impressions of the TPIS headers?. I have done a search but failed to pull up anything but vendors that are selling them. Do you have a manufacturers link? Thanks
The maker's link is: http://tpis.com/. I can't quantify the results, because I am waiting for my tuner to get the software he wants, then I'll do the tuning. But, there is definitely a power difference that is felt. My impression is that the big difference is in the upper rpm range, and, that the entire power band is moved up a few hundred rpms. Both of which I would expect.
The installer said the header assemblies were the easiest he ever istalled. The plumbing between there and the existing exhaust was not a perfect fit, but he said it never is, and he was pleased with the overall fit and quality. I also bought the high-flow cats from TPIS.
I bought TPIS on the recommendation of several folks I know and trust. They are not stainless steel, so I got the coated option, and I would highly recommend it. The difference in sound is not pronounced at lower rpms, but it really sings from about 4500 up. If you want a really stonger exhaust note, you will need to do it with the mufflers, or a cat-back system. But, I figured why not first spend the money where you get some power reward?
