Default Fair Price For Kooks Headers Install???

Went to a well known Orange County Corvette Mod shop. Is $700 to install Kooks Headers on my C6 a fair price?

They also quoted $140 to install my Corsa Sports. Maybe I will get a deal if I get both done together but I might wait a little bit on the headers I will have the exhaust in a week or so.

They did mention this would be their first Kooks install. I guess because they don't sell them there.

Zip Product in Richmond quoted about $400 - $500 for headers, high flow cats and Corsa install. Not sure if that was a special or not.

I kinda figured the $140 was pretty darn high. So that made me think the headers install price was high too. I was going to look into a local muffler shop on the exhaust. There is one I have used in the past that did a great job on one of my trucks. I hope my lifting pucks arrive before then. Ordered last week.

Ok has anyone purchased the Kooks headers from a forum dealer? If so which one? Thanks so much for your help!!!

Oh if you know of a good shop in the Orange County area to install my exhaust and headers please let me know. The one I went to I know will do a great job. But for double the price it makes me want to shop around some.

Most muffler shops I have been to will put it on a drive on lift for this kind of work. Midas did my exhaust for 75.

I expect someone will correct me tho.

I purchased my Kooks and x-pipe from Cartek. Good experience. I purchased my Corsa Sports thru a local shop. I did all the install myself and later took my car to get spot welds on the slip fittings so they won't move. The band clamps just dont cut it.

How about Superior Automotive? I know a couple of other members along with myself that deal with that place. They'll be doing my cam install as well. Good place. You can also dyno there
Where is Superior Automotive?

Let's just say the are a VERY large Corvette related business here in OC, California that also does mail order all over the US. I don't want to bash them because I believe they are very reputable and have heard tons of good feedback about them on this forum. But obviously they are expensive when it comes to installations. There is no doubt in my mind that they have done probably many dozens of headers installs. But none with the Kooks on a C6 according to what they told me today when I dropped in there shop.

Hey Andreas, I live in So. Cal, and I wanted to know where you got your Kooks from and how much. Also do you know if Kooks headers have a different set up for the manual or auto.. Also do you have and trouble codes with these Kooks headers set up?? did it come with the 02 extension?? how bout clearance issues.. I've read some horor fire stories with some guys with dynamax headers and this is why i've been scared to put headers on mine. How is the Power increase after the headers. ??? any info would help. Thanks

At the time when I got my headers only Carteck was selling them out of New York.. Now many tunners can order them in Ca. L.A.P.D. or A&A corvetts are a few. I'm sure Joe Jill at superior automotive can order them as well, since he and the owner of Kooks grew up together.
I've herd of the horror stories of some to these header systems, but I can asure you that it will not happen with the kooks system. They went in great. perfect fit. Yes they do come with 02 extenders. Make sure you tie warp them away from the pipes. No clearence issues at all.
I had set up my friend's car, fredo on the forum the same way as mine, and he had no install issues. Again perfect fit. Also not a code set. No SES light. As for performance, I've got the kooks system,magnaflows,160 thermostat, moded my air box, and tunning by Z-Indurtries. Presently I'm making 390RWHP/380RWTQ. The car is awsome. Cam goes in this month,as soon as Joe Jill at superior and I can come up with a profile I like. I usually don't buy one off the shelf. I have them custom ground for my needs. Hope this info helps.
