Last week I installed the C6 Hurst Shifter. It was an easy install. All worked well then suddenly after about 2hrs of driving I was unable to get into 1st, 3rd and Reverse. Very strange. I pulled it out and re installed the stock shifter and have not had any problems since. Any thoughts?
Did you check to make sure that the bolts limiting shifting range were still adjusted properly. If not, they could have come loose and kept you from engaging the gears properly. You should loctite them when properly adjusted. In the C5's, some people just left the bolts out because supposedly there are stops in the transmission to prevent any damage from hard shifts anyway.
I've never had a problem but I've read on the Forum where this has happened to several people . Since it was working ok in the beginning, it seems to reason that something must have changed to cause the problem and this seems to be one of the few areas where an adjustment could cause a problem. The other adjustment is in the type of springs used but that shouldn't cause a problem. It only makes the sideways shifting easier or harder.
I'd put the Hurst back in without the bolts and see how it works. Then if everything is ok, you can adjust the bolts and go on your way. By the way, put a towel or something down there to catch the bolts if they happen to fall...otherwise it can be really tough to get them back.

Good luck.
Sounds like the heat of the transmission reduced your clearances of the shifter stops. I'd give the hurst a second try.
