Does anyone have experience with the new B&M shifter for the C6? Just saw it announced on their website, but says it's for the C5 and the C6.
Does it reduce the throw 33% for both? Can you use the stock ****?
Interesting, I treied to buy one yesterday but each website I went to only specified it was for the C5 i.e. the C6 wasn't listed. To your question, I have the B&M on my TransAm (modded) and it is great. That's why I want one for the C6. It is very sure footed making highly unlikely you would miss a shift.

This is from the B&M website:
06-03-2005 B&M Releases All New C5/C6 Corvette Shifter -----------
B&M releases the all new C5 & C6 Corvette Precision Sport Shifter. Listed as part number 45044, the Precision Sport Shifter is now available for ordering! This all new design features a smoother, more precise mechanism with a shift throw reduction of 33%, spherical pivot bearing and a fully isolated upper stick assembly. What does this mean for the driver? Quicker more precise shifts for better vehicle control.
So, if you get part # 45044 it will fit either model Corvette. I think that like the Hurst, the C6 **** will NOT fit the B&M shifter without getting it drilled and tapped for the screw that holds the C6 **** on.

I spoke to a tech rep at B & M this morning... the new shifter has both the key slot and the screw hole and works with either the C5 or C6 style *****!

Any ideas on pricing, or who might have these in stock? Looks like it may be my first mod...
Still, the question is how is the performance on the C6? I have noticed that people have been installing the Hurst and B&M units, but nobody talks in specifics about shifting improvement. Is a shorter throw than the C6's? Is the shifting smoother. As it stands, I am forced to assume that this is just another marketing mod.

The hurst does not shift smoother. It requires more effort to get into gear but at least you know it's in gear. The throws are a little shorter. IMO, if you don't drive your car agressivly, don't get the hurst. The beauty of this shifter can only be appreciated when driving the car hard...IMO.
Have the B&M coming in Thursday. Got my local Murrays Speed to match JEGS's price - they had them for $259.
Also spoke with B&M's customer service who (re)assured me that the stock **** will fit without mod's.
My first mod for this car, and it won't even produce more ponies for me.
I'll try and shoot the install, and post. I'd imagine it to be similar to the Hurst install. At a promised 33% reduction in throw, that should shorten the odd/even shifts about 1.5 inches. I could live with that.
No rattles, no noise, no extra vibration on mine. I DID have to mod the shaft to get the stock shift **** to fit. I did leave the stock (softer) bushings in the shifter mount plate. Tight as a 16, errr, 18 year old - I'm loving it...
