Callaway short throw shifter WOW

Billet shift **** + Texas summer heat = skin melting pain!
I changed the shifter and **** on my 6-spd BMW 540 (the stock shifter had worn out bushings and the **** had *broken*) and went with a flashy billet aluminum ****. Worked fine until we hit mid-June 100°F temps. OUCH! Never shifter faster in my life...
The C6 is one of the few sports cars I have owned that I feel doesn't need an aftermarket shifter. The shift effort is already fairly high, and for a rear mounted trans (not directly mounted on trans) the feel and throw are pretty damn good. Drive a C5 back to back with a C6 and you'll see "bad and good" stock shifters side by side.
I guess for the "bolt on billy" crowd, or hard core drag racers, an aftermarket shifter is a must.
To each his own...But $300 for a shifter?!? Sheesh! And I thought aftermarket BMW parts were hugely overpriced...
