Default Reverse problem

Strange thing happened today. I'm driving along and i pass my destination, I stop the car put in reverse and back up maybe 50' at about 10mph. I hit the brake lightly and my brakes lock up, and my cars transmission grinds horribly(i could feel it bad thru my gas pedal). Called the dealer and he said if I didnt get a message on the DIC dont worry about it. Car is driving fine, but I know that this wasnt normal. Any thoughts on why this happended. Thanks

If you have the 4T60-E auto, maybe you put it in between "P" and "R" (Park and Reverse) just past the detent, allowing the shifter to inadvertently engage Park. The noise would then be the park pawl in the tranny racheting against the park sproket on the output shaft, bringing you to ad abrubt stop at about 3 mph.

Also, might want to make sure the shift cable is properly adjusted. When in "R" the shifter should never inadvertently engage Park.
