Does it make any sense to have my engine tuned without any mods? What kind of performance increase might I expect?
I would think so, I would think you may see 15 or so RWHP but the overall feel of the car will increase significantly and your times due to the loss of TM will decrease enough it will be like you added 30 horsepower to it.
Just my thoughts. I am sure you will get some varying opinions.
I have talked to a well known "tuner" (who doesn't like to get into forum debates, so I won't mention his name) tells me that there isn't much to be had. Probably less than 10 rwhp.

I had mine tuned by Jeremy Formato and was very pleased with the results. Disconnected the 1-4 shift, eliminated TM, turned the fans on sooner (plan to install a 160 thermostat) and increased max torque 10 ft/lbs and HP in the mid range by 10 (both will end up being greater as I asked him to tune for the Kooks that I plan to install).
