Default C6 - Dead on a flatbed!

Less than a 1000 miles on my C6 and I had to throw it on a flatbed back to the dealer. Got the dreaded "Reduced Engine Power" and "Service Traction System" errors on the DIC while driving to the store. The car shuts completely down and will not restart. Wait 5 minutes and it will start and get you 500 feet before the cycle repeats.

I've seen a few threads on this already so there is obviously some bum modules out there. Just want everyone to be aware as it's pretty scary when the car loses power at 75MPH. If you see the reduced power message prepare for shutdown. I guess GM defines "reduced" as gliding down the freeway with zero assistance from the engine and drive train.

Good thing they included those manual door releases, as it's the only way to get out when totally dead. Will keep you posted on repairs.

That is jacked. You battery leads might never have been tightened from the factory. Beyond that, you have a pretty interesting and hard to troubleshoot glitch.

Acutually not, as I disconnected the battery with hopes the computer would reset. There are a few similar posts on this subject so I'm not alone, and most likely a sensor or PCM issue. Will post update when fixed.

If the door wouldn't open and you had to do it manually, it sounds like a power problem. Maybe the alternator (generator) isn't working properly to charge your battery or maybe you just have a faulty battery that is drawing the electrical system down to 10 volts. Low voltage is one of the first things to look for when you start seeing all sorts of strange messages on the DIC and if the door wouldn't open, that just makes me think more along the lines of a faulty battery or generator.

Well I had great news today and only 18 hours after they took her to the hospital, my C6 is back in the garage. I was surprised it was fixed so fast after reading various threads on CF where people are waiting weeks for similar repairs.

The dealer stated their was a TSB on this (would like to find it) and that they pulled code P0601. They replaced and reprogrammed the power control module (12597883). If there are any dealers or service shops out there that can confirm the part, #, and code are as stated, I would greatly appreciate it.

Anyhow took her out for a solid hour at various speeds and it is deffinitely back to running condition. I was getting ready to cancel my attendance in the Aug14 Q-Deck cruise in Jupiter, Florida but now looks like it's a go.
