Default C6 convt. trunk lid

Anyone with a C6 convertible have trouble closing the trunk lid? I have to slam it hard to close on the first try or push-down. Why didn't they use the auto -closer as on the coupe?

No problem here. Just push firmly in the rear center.

That will cause damage over time. Ask me how I know.

I just slam mine, gently! If I don't do it right the left side doesn't close all the way. I think it needs to be adjusted. No time to take it in!

To ACE,

Your right, its the left side on this one too. I'll wait until the oil needs changing to get it adjusted - kill two birds . . .

How do you know?

As a side note - i find with the top down or door open - no issues.

I've also been fiddling with the two little turny/springy things to the left/right of the trunk lid - when opened. I'm tuning them down and trying to level it out.

I use micro-fiber towel to close the lid so far. I can't get my diaper off/on quick enough to use it...

Because that's what I used to do with my C5's trunk lid. Stress cracks are now visible around the point where I was pushing down.

According to Dave Hill the trunk lid doesn't weigh enough to engage the mechanize.

Like Junkie said, very light lid with the added issue--if you close it with doors/top up, before it will latch, you have to move quite a bit of air out of the trunk area. Unless you have a latch/alignment problem, I find it much easier to simple push the lid all the way down, adding the extra push--in the center/outter edge of the trunk lid, in approximate location to the actual latch. Seems to work just fine, with a final firm, push.

Neither does the coupe. I had a coupe for seven months, and unless a door or window was open, it had to be pushed down. In fact, I saw zero advantage to the auto pull down over the C5 hatch. They just never sorted it out properly.

Thought it was my imagination that the left side seemed to be up a bit when closed.

I have the exact problem with my vert. Can't close unless you slam it. And the left corner seems to stay up. Tried adjusting the rubber stops and it doesn't seem to fix it.

Was ging to live with it until I saw this thread about cracks. But if I let a dealer work on it who knows what I end up with.

Had dealer adjust but frankly it still looks the same, up a bit on the left side.

Yep, this is it! This works for me too. I use a section of Bounty paper towel from the roll and close it from just above the latch. Perfect!
