This Thursday the Chevy dealer where I bought my C6 is installing a Corsa system (with touring conversion). The dealer's parts dept. ordered this 6 weeks ago and was supossed to take only 5 days to get in. Last week they just got it. The parts guy said they originally got the kit two weeks ago but it was damaged in shipping and then the kit was again received only for the parts guys to find it still damaged, reshipped only in a new box and packing.
I fear a potential for problems here. I put a deposit with a guarantee for MSRP on a '06 ZO6 (I really want this car!) at this same dealer (a dealer with only a couple of alocations and I am promiced the 2nd.) and I don't want to let happen a situation where I end up unhappy about an installation that has to be redone or refit because I am the typical Vette perfectionist and the dealer is unhappy with a complaining customer. I noticed that since the vetts got tough to get the dealers got tough with customers. As I write this letter I kind of got my own answer but would like to hear from a few others as to what YOU would do? I don't want to stand under the mechanic and tell him what to do, but I don't think this dealership sells or works on many vettes (*my cause of concern). I went to them because of proximity and they got me the only vette I could be happy with - a Convertible 6mn, Z51 in LMB, casemere interior and from all accounts from what I read in this forum - I cannot complain. No problems and dyno #'s are above normal.
If you want the exhaust system it is a very easy install with a lift. I ordered ahead and had my when the car was delivered. I drove from the dealer to a friends garage with a lift and had everything done in less than 1 hour. If you don't have access to a lift just take to any garage, it is a simple un-bolt and re-bolt installation. It does not require a GM mechanic.

1-hour....your one fast installer! It took me longer than that to align the tips.

I agree it can be done in your garage, it may take you more than an hour though, but it's a easy do-it-yourself 'er.
The whole point was missed here. The dealer charges $75/hr. and the service manager said it should not take longer than that. I am in healthcare not a mechanic. Life's too short and mechanics have to eat too! Yes, I could do the job but for $75 + or - a few bucks is it worth it? The agravation I read in your messages. I just thought I would pick-up some pointers. Instead it looks like a contest for how fast it can be done DIY. I'll inform the service writer tomorrow morning about what I have read and if it looks like a quality issue with Corsa stop and contact the manufacture. I don't want this too be a force fit job and I don't want to be a hassle to the dealer if a mod is not to my liking. I'll just continue to operate in "stealth" mode.
Richard,
I have dealt with Corsa for some time as a direct distributor. In all that time I have never had a kit come in damaged-but am sure the way these boxes get tossed around it defintely could happen. I will say that Corsa would never simply repackage damaged goods in a new box and reship.
Ask the dealer if he deals direct with Corsa or through a GM distribution center.I know it works this way on the Joe Gibbs items so it's possible that Corsa never saw your damaged kit. I wouldn't hesitate to call Corsa and ask them if they'll help you out in case you're unhappy with the condition of the system the dealer is trying to put on your car.
If you want, PM me and I'll give you a name you can speak to at Corsa.
Good luck with this and enjoy the ZO6 when you get it.
