The instructions reccomend disconnecting the NEG term on the battery ia that step abosolutely necessary? Secondly can the sensor be accessed by driving onto ramps versus placing the car on a lift?

I didn't disconnect the battery...really not necessary. You could use ramps, just back the car up on em, giving you easy excess to the tranny, drivers side. Clearly marked, can't miss it.

This was the very first mod I did on my car.

I did not disconnect the battery.

I backed the left rear tire up on the curb at the end of my driveway and crawled underneath (after pulling parking brake on firmly and chocking the wheels). The installation only took a couple of minutes.

So, ramps would make it a real easy job.
