Old saying is true - everyone has opinions.

C5's and C6's handle very well and just like Porsche you have the ability to buy the setup suitable for your driving style. Base or Z51.

Maybe it would be more helpful if you could find out what you drove. Base suspension or Z51.

1) I don't know if the C6 I was driving had the Z51 package.
2) The Carrera I test drove was actually a 4S (4 wheel drive).
3) I agree with everone that the C6 would do much better on a track, but let's be realistic now, I am never going to drive it on a track. I live in New York so the most I will drive it is on the highway or on the bumpy roads of Manhattan.

In my driving conditions, do you guys still think that the C6 is more glued to the road than a Carrera?
I was active with the Porsche Club for many years. I have owned just about one of everything they offered at one time or another. I have autocrossed them, raced them and instructed at track days for several years. The Carrera 4 is an awesome car. It claws at the road like a cat.. and wears out tires in 5-6000 miles to prove it. Sensibly driven, it is hard to beat. Pushed and the rear weight bias will still bite you, even with todays traction control, ABS and such. The major down side to new Porsches is price and cost to maintain.

The Corvettes on the other hand are cheap by comparison. The push rod engine is reliable, there is enough horse power to tickle the fancy of any average driver, and should you decide you want to go to the track one of these day, you have a car that is more capable than most drivers.

As for comments on the Boxster, if they ever put a real engine in it, it will be tough to beat on the track.
