Try to avoid high rpms when you are not under load... Like 4k+ rpms at partial throttle. That should make a dramatic difference in the amount you use....
I am also using a quart about every 2k miles and I have over 10k miles on my car. I've brought it in each time and have a documented history of this with Chevy. The dealer just checked with Chevy who told them that this is normal. If it were normal everyone would be using a quart every 2k miles, but most are not. Chevy also believes that squeaky brakes on a $50k car is normal (non-Z51).
Document everything so that if one day this turns into a serious problem, outside of warranty, you have a case to make them fix it for free.
I did 1st oil change at 4,500 miles & I've gotten low oil message on DIC at about 11,000 miles. It required about 3/4 quart to bring back to normal. Seems like mine is burning about a quart every 7,500 miles.
My driving is not too aggressive, just an occasional high rev acceleration maybe once or twice a day.

i have been tracking oil consumption with my chevy dealer for several months, the old oil consumption test. they are telling me that /12 quart per thousand is within speck, this does not sound right
also they recommended Royal purple synthetic, anyone have any history, I do not want to void the warentee.
My car burned about 1/2 a quart(3k miles each) for the first 2 oil changes.I checked today and it hasn't moved at all since the last oil change 1800 miles ago.Maybe they improve with breakin,my rev limiter has been raised to 6850rpm,7800 miles and I drive her pretty hard.
My '01 burns about a quart every 1K miles...you're doing better than that. Will I allow a Chevy Mechanic at the dealership tear the engine apart and replace the rings?...Heck no...I just check my oil a bit more often.
Mobil 1, Amsoil, Redline and Royal Purple are all consumed by the vette. Adding Lucas seemed to help some but it didn't eliminate the problem completely.
I heard the same nonsense and then when I bought a forged motor from Andy At A&A I saw for myself that it was BS.
I never again had to add oil to my car. 17k miles on the forged motor and the oil never goes down. I rev the crap out of it and I drive it like I stole it.

I think it is rather abnormal that chevy dealers are recommending RP when GM recommends Mobil 1.
Actually, if you read your owners manual you will see that GM doesn't recommend Mobil 1, they recommend an oil meeting GM Standard 4718M. They do say words to the effect of the factory fill Mobil 1 meets this spec...
But, as mentioned above, so do many other synthetic oils including three AMSOIL synthetics. However, I also find it pretty interesting that they are recommending RP. I wonder if that particular dealer is a RP dealer and they have a higher profit margin on RP than Mobil 1.
Sorry to read the the C6 is having the same oil comsumption issues as the early Z06s did.
I burned 3 quarts in 1200 miles. So I have bee doing the oil test thing. We will see how it turns out. I have also replaced 2 fuel pressure regulators, both fuel senders and the Oclv valve. Nightmare....oy
Excessive oil consumption, not due to leaks, is the use of 1 L (1 qt) or more of engine oil within 3 200 kilometers (2,000 miles).
Preliminary
The causes of excessive oil consumption may include the following conditions:
• External oil leaks Refer to Oil Leak Diagnosis .
• Incorrect oil level or improper reading of the oil level indicator With the vehicle on a level surface, run the engine for a few minutes, allow adequate drain down time, 2-3 minutes, and check for the correct engine oil level.
• Improper oil viscosity Refer to the vehicle owners manual and use the recommended SAE grade and viscosity for the prevailing temperatures.
• Continuous high speed driving and/or severe usage
• Crankcase ventilation system restrictions or malfunctioning components
• Worn valve guides and/or valve stems
• Worn or improperly installed valve stem oil seals
• Piston rings broken, worn, or not seated properly Allow adequate time for the rings to seat. Replace worn piston rings as necessary.
• Piston and rings improperly installed or not fitted to the cylinder bore
