i started my car yesterday morning and there was a really loud squealing noise coming from the engine compartment. i though it was just the belt but the car only has 9000 miles on it. the guys at the dealership said that they dont know what is wrong with it and that chevy has to send a tech down to inspect the vehicle.
has anybody experienced this before?
does anybody have any idea what is wrong with the car?
thanks

Check to make sure the crank pulley bolt is intact and that the fan belt hasn't been shredded. Without hearing it, that's all I can think of. This problem has been well documented. Some sort of a vacuum or exhaust leak could cause this sound. Good luck.
Needs to be checked out immediately again. Mine started with a belt squeal also. The front of the engine subsequently fell off due to a pulley bolt failure.
I had a squealing noise in my C6 around 10k miles. Turns out that the A/C compressor (or the clutch to the compressor) failed, and the A/C compressor seized. That trashed the belt. That trashed the tensioner. That trashed the secondary belt, and the other tensioner.
The front suspension has to be dropped for the repair.
My humble advice - don't drive it. Have the dealer come get it. NOW.
