Grinding Noise
It is a MAJOR design failure of GM. They screwed up and do not want to step up to the plate. The few people that have it, the experience varies in degrees. Some it happens a few times. I can also say it was not there when you bought the car, correct. It started after 1000 miles, when the pump and car started to break in.
Very simple, when the car heats up the fluids expand and there is not enough back pressure or fluid when the power steering unit calls for it. There is DOCUMENT # PIC3109 that was issued on August 19, 2004. Right, before the car was released. The same mess they got into with the front license plate. 50 states in the Union and some require front license plates. So they knew about it before the car was released and did not disclose it.
GM States this is a normal characteristic. It is not. I would bring the car back and complain. The more people that do, it will cause them to re-engineer the power unit, rack and hose lines.
My car has it so severe that I am pending a Lemon Law hearing. Another person in another state had GM Techs agree to change the rack and steering pump. They refuse to even look at my car.
My dealer mechanic told me that GM Corporate is wrong on this one and he explained to them how bad my car is. The entire front end vibrates and shakes when I turn it. This is not normal? No I am not sensative to the front end. I am just another corvette owner that bought a lemon, because GM refuses to step up to the plate and fix it.
Even if I am not successful at the hearing, I win. This car will always be labeled that it had a lemon law hearing and GM will have to disclose it.
No one should be subjected to this treatment. All I asked is to have my car fixed. They do not want to spend the money to re-enginieer a major mistake. It will come out in the future that they had this problem and had to fix it. Because the more people that come forward on this issue and say it is NOT NORMAL, they will have to fix it, just like the Z51 brake pad issue which they say it is normal to hearing squeaking and squealing so loud that even with the radio on loud you can not hear anything else.
Another person I contacted in an another state had the same thing, the dealer changed the rack and power unit, which casued this condition to be reduced. I can not even get them to change anything. The lawyers from GM want to know what accidents my car had. The only accident is the GM Engineer that hit their head when they were designing the power steering pump and front end.
I know exactly what happened and I will make it my mission to tell everyone.
