Default Problem with the crankshaft - please help!

First of all, I would like to excuse myself if I’am capable to explain the problem correctly, but my technical English is not very good.
So, our new C6 is only 1600 km, but appeared very strange problem – the wheel of the crankshaft began to unfold This happened two times and I don’t see any logic in this, because from what I know it has to be just the opposite while in movement.
I also have to say that still there is no local Chevy service here and we have difficulties with the warranty and fixing the problem itself…
I will be very grateful to any suggestions and advices from you guys how to fix this problem.
Thanks in advance

Sounds like our old friend the crankshaft pulley bolt problem. Next time you replace the harmonic balancer/pulley, add the diamond impregnated washer between it and the timing sprocket that GM is now installing on all new LS2 engines. Be sure to install a new bolt as per instructions in the shop manual (initially torque to 37 lb-ft then turn the bolt 140 degrees further). Note the bolt is torque to yield and must not be reused.

Or, you can pin the balancer onto the crank, and never have to worry about this again. Pinning kits are available from several vendors, including Summit and JEGS.

If you haven't had any serious damage or any mishaps...then even with the problem you are probably a lucky fellow.

Follow "shopdog's" advice and have the job done again correctly or have it pinned....but do it before you DO have a serious mishap!

If this is the harmonic balancer loosening up, you need to get it to a Chevrolet dealer and ask them to complete bulletin 05-06-01-001C.

That bulletin instructs the dealer to install a diamond impregnated washer behind the balancer bolt and go through the proper torgue procedure for installing the balancer.

The harmonic balancer is the round pulley on the front of the crankshaft that the belt goes around. If that is coming loose, don't drive it until a dealer complete that bulletin. Have it towed in, you don't want to be driving if that comes off.

Isn't capitalism and FREEDOM great? Its so cool that a 25 year old in Bulgaria can own something as downright American as a brand new C6 Vette. Probably cost an arm and a leg to get that thing there! It is so fantastic to be that glocally progressive. Keep up the good work. Good luck with the crank bolt issue.

The problem is supposed to be limited to VIN's under 5511039 (last 7 digits). I wonder if your car falls in this range?

My vin has the format 5511XXXX. There are 4 numbers behind 5511, not 3.... Is there a number missing?

By "limited to VIN's under 5511039" you mean vin numbers less than 5511039?

First of all I would like to thank to all of you guys for the advices We started to work on the problem through pinning the balancer as you said. But as I said we still have no dealership here (maybe next year), so is there any chance to fix it by ourselves and inform the nearest dealership (in Germany) about that, without harming our warranty? Because the other way is to transportate it by truck to Germany, which is not very comfortable for me, due to different dificulties and big loss of time...
Is this bulletin so important, guys?
Thanks again

I sent a pm to you with a copy of the bulletin. It was copied and pasted and some of the pictures do not show up. If you have a fax number I can fax you a better copy.

I'd suggest seeing if a dealer can send you the parts and instructions in the bulletin to the place that is servicing your car.

If you have a fax number or email address I can try to send you a better copy of the bulletin with all the pictures and illustrations.
