Default C6 Clutch problems

I know that there has been lots said on the Forum about how people feel about the C6 Clutch..............can anyone tell me if there are any TSB's or documented problems with the 2005 Vette clutch?

As always, thanks for your help

Default Clutch Problem

Did a little spirited driving this weekend and found that I have the "clutch pedal to the floor" problem. Service advisor will not take my word for it says I have to bring it in so they can duplicate it. I told him I don't want anyone else driving the s__t out of my car. I will be taking it in tomorrow and give a service advisor a "ride". I will keep updates on my progress to fixing this problem.

Just had the same problem, but had the dealer riding with me! I'm a lucky boy!

i'd be afraid of a dealer that wants to try to duplicate an issue that has the potential to cause damage. Why won't he just look it up, there is a tsb about the clutch and shifting at 6k and above. if i recall correctly it only effects cars built before dec. 04.

I've got a Feb build, and the same problem. Dealer is (was) reluctant to look at it, as you have to get TO the clutch pack to actually identify whether it's in the affected datecode range (they haven't isolated it to VIN/Build Date). It also happens on hard launches in 1st.

I've also got the 1st gear issue that's pretty bad too - way more than 5% of the time - way more than embarressing - even when shifting to 2nd then back to 1st or double-clutching. I'm just waiting for someone to rear-end me @ a light so I can be REALLY PISSED OFF at it.

I'm letting these TSB's & bullettins pile up, while I "emotionally prepare" myself to lose the car for a week or longer to get them taken care of. Since I just got the car back after EIGHT WEEKS in the body shop (can't blame GM for that one), I'm not ready to part with it just yet.

Just got back from the dealer, my Service Advisor is pretty cool. I just handed him a copy of the TSB and made the point that since I bought the car in September 2004, the clutch I have in the car has to be built before December 2004 and he agreed. The parts are on order. I also talked with the Service Tech that is going to do the work and he said that they would have the car for a couple of days.

They shouldn't need to reproduce it. I had this problem
and after going over the TSB issued by GM with the
dealer, they checked the clutch manufacture date
(which they do NOT need to pull the transmission to
check) and agreed to do the work asap, once they
found the clutch manufacture date was pre-Jan 2005.
BTW, my car was built in March so the clutch manufacture
date is only loosely correlated with VIN.

The only hitch in my experience was that the new
clutch kit wasn't immediately available and I had to
wait about a week to get it.

That's good news.

I too have the problem but have been reluctant to take it in due to the lack of a good service department at my local dealer. I am considering going with an aftermarket clutch and just forgetting about the TSB.

I wonder why it will take them a couple of days when GM only pays 4.5 hours to complete the job? Let us know how it turns out.

My dealer is telling me that there is a new SB being printed. You know any other car i've owned you just said it's broke and they fixed it without all the drama, no wonder GM has financal problems!
