it's where you take the stock airbox lid off and use zip-ties to hold down the air filter, basically opening up the entire front of the air intake.wish i could explain it better.

much safer to just trim down the covers to match the filter height (see my vette photos for an example). but whatever you do DO NOT REMOVE the rain guard for any prolonged period of time. the hood leaks and water will enter the stock filter cans and collect then get sucked into the engine for a nice steam cleaning, if your lucky, or a good ole' hydrolock, if your not.

50 large for a car and you are wanting to use zip ties?
If you can't afford a new REAL intake, perhaps you should rethink your purchase.
Good point but that only applies if the real intakes out there so far actually make the power gains that they claim they do.
Zip tie mod on the C5s came pretty close to yielding the gains that some real intakes did.
Yes Zig,50 large for a car and a dollar for some zip ties.why?because i like the results and the look and the price!since I'm spending my 50 large and not yours,i'll mod my way and you yours!fair enough??

uhh.. it wasn't I that made the 50k comment... I actually agree with you. A little experimenting goes a long way. If we all modded the same where / when would we ever come up with anything new.
