Default Procharged C6 information

O.k. guys here's the low down. If you go to my gallery and double left click on the picture you want to see, you’ll get a better image. I have a few more pictures to upload and soon I’ll be making some mpegs.
The most asked question I’ve gotten is how loud is the procharger ? My main concern was the noise too, but I’m very happy with the noise level. I don’t even notice it in the cabin, but you can tell there’s something under the hood from the outside.
If I had to do it over again here's the list and order of things:

1) Kooks headers with 3” cross over pipe.

Be sure the installer watches out for the transmission cooling lines. The headers rubbed a hole in mine and I had to pay $300.00 at the dealer to have it fixed.

2) Corsa touring mufflers.

I initially had the Corsa sports, but with the procharger, it was too loud for a daily driver. So, I had the stock mufflers reinstalled.

3) Procharger with new fuel pump and injectors.

I had MDMC do the install with the new kit from Procharger. I’m making 605 bhp on 6lbs of boost with a conservative tune. I’m still having a little problem with the idle, but hopefully MDMC will have the program updates soon. Even if they don’t, it was still worth it.

4) Custom paint

I wanted it to still look like the sophisticated ride it is, but have something to set it apart.

To do list :

1) 6 piston calipers with new rotors
2) Corsa touring mufflers

List of venders:

Martin Workman:

Corsa independent dealer in Nashville. Does good work and I’ll give his phone number, if you e-mail me. Honest and won’t over charge you.

Precision Tricks Custom, Inc.
In Pleasant view Tn. (615) 746-0405.

I would recommend them. Just make sure you both understand what it is your looking for up front. Of course you’d want to customize your ride your way. Not like anyone else’s.

MDMC
Forum vender:

I like their work. Just be sure you understand up front every thing your going to have done. Sean is hard to get a hold of, but he will return your call, if you leave a call back number.
I’ll let you know how the updated program to fix the idle works out.

I’m in Nashville and if you’d like to see the work in person or have a specific question, just send me a PM.

Sean didn’t do anything for the crankcase, but he did pin the crank pulley.

How does it sound now compared to when you had the Corsa Sports on?
I just did headers, a tune and a 3200 converter. My Corsa Sports sound like a track car. Way to loud. I am thinking of putting the stock exhaust back on since I can not do the Corsa Touring. The reason being you can not use the new H pipe with the silencers they provide since you use the headers X pipe. The mufflers stay the same.

So I guess what I am asking is how loud is the stock exhaust? I would imagine it is louder that stock since you did the work. Any help here would be great.

Thanks,
Ted

Here’s the update from Sean :

Injector size is 42 ponders and the fuel pump is a 255 iph with NO boost A Pump.

$8000.00 installed and tuned for the standard kit.
I don't think this includes the pump or injectors.

He has an update for the idle issue.

He recommends a new stall converter as the next upgrade.

I don’t even notice the procharger noise anymore. The stock mufflers are just a little louder with the charger. I can’t even hear it in the cabin, except as I first accelerate and not at cruseor on the highway. I have to admit it’s nice to clearly hear the radio instead of the sports.

Max Power 487.0 @ 6k rpm
Max Torque 433.8 @ 5k rpm
609 - (609 x .2) = 487.2 rwhp

I was under the impression that you take your bhp and multi by 15% and subtract that to get you rwhp, or multiply you rwhp by 18% and that will give you your flywheel hp. That would put it at 575hp.

Did you mount a boost gauge? If so, where? No one seems to make the A pillar gauge holder for the C6 yet.

It’s an automatic, so they estimate I loose 20% in the drive chain. From what I’ve read the sticks loose 15%. Most tuners I’ve talked to figured it like this. Although , I did talk to one in Florida that just multiplied rwhp x 1.2. He was the only one.

Sean at MDMC said they make a gauge that will work with the C6, but I wanted to keep the inside stock.

Congrats on the new found power..... How much boost are you running? 6-7 lbs? This is a stock ATI kit, right?

Also, 20% drivetrain loss w/ an automatic is correct. 487 rwhp X 1.2 = 584.4 crank hp. 433.8 X 1.2 = 520.56 rwtq.

How does the setup feel SOTP?

Thanks for sharing.

Default crank HP

If there is 20% loss going from crank hp to rwhp then 80% gets to the rear wheels. The correct equation is (Crank HP) x .8 = rwhp; since the measured rwhp is 487 the crank hp = 487/.8= ~609; a similar relationship holds for the rw torque
