I'm a new c6 owner and new to this forum. Was wondering if you guys could give me some info on some of the best mods for the price;I have about 1 grand to play with right now. I used to be a mustang guy, but now switched sides after I drove my friends c5. Also, I haven't heard anything about underdrive pulleys, I'm sure there's a reason? Lastly, still trying to get the feel for my ride, and was wondering what you guys have found to be the "sweet spots" for shifting. I bought my vette for the performance, the looks don't hurt, but eventually I would like it to be competitive with the c6 z06 and shelby gt500.
An exhaust will give you ZERO HP. The underdrive pully will give you <5-10Hp and should not be done unless you are putting in a cam, the labor involved in getting to it is just unreasonable unless your already in there.
Your first power/speed mods should go as follows;
1. Headers
2. Intake
3. Tuning
4. Tires
After that, a little juice is OK to use sparingly (50-100 shot). With a cam and the above mods, you should have no problem in a straight line with the Z06 or GT500. As far as sweet spots for shifting... redline!
*my go fast mods are:
Halltech intake + CAI insert
Dynatech Supermaxx Longtube headers
Corsa Sport exhaust
Tune from Jeremy Formato @ FasterProms
NX dry kit (not installed)
Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires
