My Z51 auto did a 13.1 1/4 mile at around 4k miles and a 12.8 1/4 mile @ around 6-7k(july). Before when i disengaged active handling and traction control the tires would break loose only slightly when i floored it. Last night, i turned off the active handling and traction control and nailed it from a dead stop(no power braking or anything) the car fish tailed and spun for about 30 feet(est) even today with active handling on if i nail it going at 30 mph you can feel the tires breaking loose but the traction takes over from there. Damn, my car feels like it has much more power now at 9k then at 4k. Is this possible??? Heck when the tires broke loose from the dead stop i didnt even have 91 octane in the tank(as usual) i had 89(gas station was out of premium). My only guess is that the temp change might have been a factor. All my 1/4 mile runs were in 90 degree weather(june & july) last night when the car ran like a "raped ape" it was 60 degrees. If a temp change causes the car to run like that, maybe i should get a cold air induction system. Any thoughts on to why the car seems stronger??

Yup, much faster when its cold outside. Most of the stock C6's that I have seen run at englishtown have run very low 13's in very warm humid weather (over one hundred degrees on the track). Wait till its 40 degrees outside, the same cars will be running in the high 12s as they should. Some of the good ones will run mid 12s

Yes a 30 degree temp drop will make a significant difference in performance as your cramming more oxygen molecules into the cylinders.
I purchased the Halltech stinger and CAI system and noticed one heck of an improvement in the performance of my car which only has 1400 miles on it, so you should really notice a significant improvement. The Halltech system was worth every penny.

Are you on the same tires? Are you basing your feel on tire slippage or throttle response? At 9k miles, the tires are much harder than when new.
Mine "woke up" after about 2K miles as well. When I first got it, my comment was "this thing doesn't even feel as fast as my 99 C5". Now it's more like "how long will it take for my eyeballs to move forward back into their sockets."

Same tires. I am basing the "feel" on both tire spin and throttle response. This Z51 is really hauling *** with the temp drop.....Big time difference in power and response. Halltech Stinger here I come
At 4k it feels like I have a new car. It feally feels and performs like I have 400 ft/lbs of torque. She now feels like a bull, in the car passing sprints. I'm not really into top speed - I like the ability to pass another car in the twisties. This C6 can do this much better than my Porsche ever could.
I did drop in a Honker - not impressed a first but I've come to think that there really is a signifficant difference. Wear in or Honker, she is now a slavic countess!

I only put on about 200 miles per month on my C6. So at 1200 miles, it will be next year before I get that much mileage on. Other than going for a long road trip, is there any other way to get the equivalent break in? I recall a forum member describing his break in procedure using regular organic motor oil.
All performance cars in general will run 3 tenths quicker in much cooler weather compared to the 90 degree heat.I could go to moroso here in south florida now and run some crappy times, but I choose to wait till late nov for some cooler weather.I picked up 30hp since getting my 6 spd and look to run low to mid 12s once the weather gets much cooler.

Picked up 30HP how? Just going from auto to 6 speed?...
