Default LS7 Clutches Available!

Hi All,

The LS7 clutch is available. It has been confirmed to fit in any LS1/LS6/LS2 Corvette combo. This comes without the flywheel which is an added bonus for those of you who purchase a different type flywheel or for those of you who don't need one. It is 317.99 shipped!

I thought the Z06 was going to use the same clutch as the coupe. No?

I'd think they would have to put a heavier clutch in to handle the extra 100HP with a safety margin. I'm curious how much HP/TQ it's rated at. Might be a good upgrade, versus the much stiffer/less comfortable Center-Force type clutch upgrade...

Rick, I agree completely, as that makes good sense. But, I thought it had been said many times that GM was still going to use the same clutch, which I had hoped meant that the C6 could withstand adding power w/o having to upgrade the clutch.

Chances are, if you were to put one of these on your original flywheel, you would need to have it resurfaced if there was any significant wear - if for no other reason than to make sure the larger contact surface was level & uniform. The pressure plate looks to definately have larger springs also - I wonder if this is going to greatly increase pedal pressures (does the LS7 have a larger master/slave to compensate)? Obviously, this would be an "opportune time" to put in that Aluminum Flywheel you've been "jonesing" for also.

I ran Center Force clutches in some performance-ricer trucks I've owned in the past, and my "female-counterparts" had a more difficult time driving them with a performance clutch.

Rick
Technically it only has to handle 70 lb/ft more. The clutch doesn't care about HP, only torque and the LS7 has 470 lb/ft compared to the LS2's 400. Still, that's a 15% difference which is significant, so I guess they felt they needed a bigger clutch.

Default Flywheel and clutch assembly

I've purchased clutches from GM and they always sell the assembly with pressure plate, disc and flywheel as a unit balanced. So you don't need to resurface your old flywheel. As a matter of fact they don't even sell it without the flywheel.

He's selling these "sans" flywheel...

Any more mods on mine, and I'll need the extra TQ handling capacity...

To the top for Rick's good question -- if we little old non-z06 owners throw in this clutch, are we needing to change the hydraulics, too?
