Does anybody know what wheels will clear a Z51s brakes. I'm talking junkyard take offs like from an older Vette or Camaro. I got a feeling I'm going to have to buy something expensive, but maybe I can squeek by. Don't track too much but these 2.0 60's are starting to annoy me
Someone on the Forum said the 18"X 9.5" rears from a C5 will fit but I don't know of anyone thats used them. Camaro and Firebird were 17" X 9" largest and dont know if they would clear the caliper or be wide enough for a D.R.
Yes a lot of people are using the rear Z06 rims (18x10.5) as well because it clears the brakes and BFG does make a nice wide drag radial (295x35 or even a 315x30 for it. You will likely still be better of with the narrower Mickey Thompson ET Street Drag Radial (largest size is 275x40) on a 17x9.5 if it clears the brakes (might clear but not Z51 brakes) because those are even better track tires.
Slightly different offset/backspacing so they might stick out a tiny bit.

I actually have the BFG 315x 30s mounted on these wheels. This is somewhat of a wide tire, plenty of meat on it and I had no problem running them on my A4 C5. I have no intentions of running them on my MN6 C6.
I purchased an extra set of C6 rims from a fourm member($400), and used the front rims (18x9.5's) with BF Goodrich DR's (275/35/18) as rears for 1/4 mile runs. No sensors in the extra rears for the track, but they are working fine (no warnings).

Cool, the fronts fit then. I really wanted no more than a 17" rim to get some more sidewall but that may be my best option.

What are you getting for sixty foot times with the DR's? Also are you running an auto or stick? Also are the DR's the same height as the factory EMT tires?
CTvette05, I have a Z51 6spd. I have been playing, getting the feel of, my new setup around town for the last week. My next track day will be Sept 23rd, that will be my first 1/4 mile runs with the DR's. My best (not so great) 60' times have been 1.96 / 1.97 / 1.98's with 1.96 giving me a 12.5 @ 115mph on the stock tires. I had alot of 2.0 60's and alot of runs 12.6 to 12.8. The runflats spun alot, but I still expected better times with my mods (Kooks headers/Corsa sports/high flow cats/ 160 threm w/fan mod). Times should improve this time with the addition of a full tune,Halltech stinger,B&m ripper shifter and the DR's. Of course my inexperience doesen't help, so maybe I can buy enough mods to make up for it. I will post new times after the 23rd. See ya!
