Sometimes I feel like I may not really know how to properly drive with a clutch. I have experienced chatter/shutter when pulling out slowly in first and when backing out of parking spots. Now it feels like my clutch is sticking when I am cruising short distances in first gear and engage; it feels like transmisson / driveshaft or something rattles / shakes because the clutch gets stuck to the flywheel. Anybody else having similar problems?
My avatar is a canned version of something I found here no the forum; had to have something ... Anyway i do have a 2005 C6 Z51 M6... Can anybody relate with similar experiences?
Mine doesn't "stick" per se. I DO however have the symptoms described in the service bulletin, and they extend to hard launches in first gear, where the clutch slips and the pedal stays down on 3,500RPM launches in first.
Sluggish clutch response may also be contributed to by a "flow restrictor", placed inline with the clutch slave to reduce the "shock" to the driveline and slow the response of the clutch slave. Many shops reportedly "relieve" this by drilling out the restriction there (a task that's on my "list of things to do" the next time I'm up on a lift - though I LOATHE the thought of bleeding the slave).
The higher gearing in the Z51 may contribute to a "shudder" feeling (as will the higher gearing in reverse), and first gear launches take a little getting used to - vis-a-vis the proper rpm-age and release technique. The tranny is also not as "smooth" as one would expect from a +$50K sports car, and a short-throw-shifter upgrade would be a recommended upgrade (especially if you're used to ***/german transmissions).
I think in your case it's a matter of technique, which will improve with time.
There is a service bullitain on this! It is covered under warranty! I have the same problem! Search around for more info on this TSB and contact your dealer for a new clutch!
