Default Check Gas Cap

I get this about every other day. Is there a known issue here or am I off to the dealer?

I don't know about the C6 but on most cars it means just that. Check and make sure it's on tight. If it is on tight (3 clicks) then it probably needs to be replaced as it's not sealing right.

The computor monitors fuel vapor pressures within the system in order to detect vapors escaping into the atmosphere. If your cap is tight, you have a leak some where in the system. The dealer will smoke test the system to detect leaks. It could simply be a faulty gas cap

I've only had my C6 for 3 months, but after every fill-up, I get the 'Check Engine' light AND false fuel level indications.

This happens consistently after every fill-up. The gauge goes up to 3/4 then down to empty then up to full then down to empty...

The last time it happened, I checked to make sure I was re-inserting the gas filler cap PROPERLY (listen for the three clicks). My filler cap doesn't even screw on!!! It turns and turns and turns...period. Not even with the application of downward pressure as I'm turning. I hear the clicks, but the cap is not being pulled into the neck. After a while, the 'Check Engine' light goes out and the fuel gauge gives a TRUE reading. I can only assume ALL of these malfunctions are related to the fact the filler cap is not being secured, BUT why does everything return to normal after awhile (unless the gas tank is creating enough negative pressure to suck the cap in to a point that makes the computer think everything is okay).

Anybody else have a gas cap that won't screw in?

Definately a problem either with the cap or filler neck. Take it in for service. The cap should continue to turn to the right but as it reaches the proper torque, it will start to click. Think of it as a round torque wrench.

I had to get my gas cap replaced. It was ratcheting, but not tightening down.
