Technically,

It is an Air Intake. Not an Intake Manifold

The air filter is part of the intake just like a muffler is part of the exhaust.

PT Barnum discovered he could move more people per hour through his exhibits by putting up a sign which read, "This way to the Egress." Most people hadn't seen an Egress before, so they hurried that way, and found themselves outside.

Same thing here. Vendors discovered they were having a hard time getting people to pay $400 for an air cleaner. But call it an intake, and people would line up to buy them. Never underestimate the gullibility of the American public.

Thats the same American Public that is paying $1500 for two mufflers and 8' of pipe because the Vendors call it a "Catback Exhaust".

I agree, I've been saying, that all these intakes don't make the power to justify the cost of the unit. The HP claims are inflated, people want to believe that the aftermarket intakes must work, or why would they sell them. I know they look good, and they are quality made. That's a given.
The gap between the C5 and it's aftermarket counter part was significient 11-15HP. This is not the case with the gap between the C6 and the same aftermarket intakes. They haven't changed the design. The gap has been closed up to a point that the improvement is minimal. If your looking 12-18 HP, for $400, with 30 minutes of install time, and SOTP .feel, It's just not there.

Just when I was lossing faith....LOL

My brother was reading up on vettes which he doesn't really like (he is very old school...69 chevelle is his sled) and he was asking me what the hell the air cleaners were being called an intake for.

Well the intelligent answer is that the air-cleaners are never sold alone and you are buying a system as many of you brought up. It isn't an intake though. Air cleaner system: air filter and airbridge? or Air filter system....but it isn't an intake as that term just gets me picturing the high-rise intake manifold. You say intake, I say oh yeah, I have a FAST.

Good comebacks and comparisons with the cat-back and marketing ploys for names of products.....but I still see them as a set of mufflers and 100 bucks in mandrel bent pipes for 1400 mr corsa touring. Not on my watch.

....which is EXACTLY why we are still "suffering" through with the stock exhaust. $1200.00+ for a few feet of tubing and two mufflers... that sell equivalent for an old mustang or chevelle for a couple hundred dollars? NFW.

i'm afraid it's gonna be a loooooong wait for us. oh well, things could be worse. lol
