How to Reset the Engine Oil Life System

The Engine Oil Life System calculates when to change
your engine oil and filter based on vehicle use.
Anytime your oil is changed, reset the system so it can
calculate when the next oil change is required. If a
situation occurs where you change your oil prior to a
CHANGE ENGINE OIL message being turned on, reset
the system.
To reset the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message after an
oil change, do the following:
1. Press the TRIP button so the OIL LIFE percentage
is displayed.
2. Press RESET and hold for two seconds. OIL LIFE
REMAINING 100% will appear.
If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message comes back on
when you start your vehicle, the engine oil life system
has not reset. Repeat the procedure.

Will C5 parts (I have a new magnetic drain plug, upf 44 filters) work on a C6?

Default I have both plugs and found that the C-5 plug will fit

But it does not resemble the C-6 plug in shape so I put the C-6 plug back in. I did find the C-5 plug went in fine but the socket size was not 13MM like the C-6 or it had a different head.

Watch for the drain plug O-ring. There's a small rubber O-ring which fits around the threaded portion of the drain plug and into a recess in the shoulder of the plug. I changed my oil last weekend - drained, put the plug back, filled up, lowered the car. When I went to empty the drain pan, there was the O-ring. Had to do it all over again just to get the O-ring back in place. Ooops!

I always wondered why the Vettes didn't come with a magnetic drain plug like other GM cars and trucks. Looking through service manuals I think I've figured it out. The Vette flows 100% of its oil through the filter, even if the pressure relief is regulating oil pressure. Some other vehicles only filter a portion of the oil when pressure relieving.

The only way oil would not be filtered would be if the filter is completely obstructed which is highly unlikely. So I don't think adding one or not is really going to make a difference. Same thing on the new Z, 100% of the oil flows through the filter at all times.
